To the end, when their drive for a state championship got derailed, the Cougars showed that they were a team working together. This first photo, taken at the end of the game, is of one of the youngest team members, Erich, comforting one of the senior captains, Ben, who got injured in the last 9 seconds of the game. Reflecting on the evening and season I was reminded of a quote by President Teddy Roosevelt: “The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly;…who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” These boys had a great season.
